PhotoCraft has a new release every few days, and every release ships installers for Windows, macOS, Linux, FreeBSD and the web. The buttons at the top of this page always point to the newest one and show the right file for your computer first.
If you only want to try it, you don't need to download anything: open PhotoCraft in your browser instead.

Install PhotoCraft on Windows
- Download the
.msifile for your PC from the buttons above. - Double-click it and follow the installer.
- Open PhotoCraft from the Start menu.
Prefer not to install? Download the portable zip, unzip it anywhere and run PhotoCraft from that folder.
Install PhotoCraft on a Mac
- Download the universal
.dmg. It runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. - Open the disk image and drag PhotoCraft into Applications.
- Open it from Applications or Launchpad.
The command-line tool is a separate download, photocraft-cli-<version>-macos-universal.zip. The binary is signed and notarized too, and macOS checks the notarization online the first time you run it.
Install PhotoCraft on Linux
The AppImage needs no install: make it executable and run it.
chmod +x photocraft-<version>-linux-x86_64.AppImage
./photocraft-<version>-linux-x86_64.AppImage
The first run registers its launcher icon and menu entry in ~/.local/share. Set PHOTOCRAFT_NO_DESKTOP_INTEGRATION=1 if you would rather skip that.
For the Flatpak, install the file for your user and run it by its app ID. Flatpak offers to install the freedesktop runtime from Flathub if you don't have it.
flatpak install --user photocraft-<version>-linux-x86_64.flatpak
flatpak run ai.storyteller.photocraft
On a Wayland session, dropping files onto the window doesn't work yet. Use File › Open, or copy the image in your file manager and paste it with Ctrl+V.
Install PhotoCraft on FreeBSD
The FreeBSD 14 build is a tarball laid out like /usr/local. Install the runtime libraries listed in the PhotoCraft README with pkg install, then unpack it:
tar -xzf photocraft-<version>-freebsd-x86_64.tar.gz --strip-components 1 -C /usr/local
photocraft
Check your download
Every release includes SHA256SUMS.txt. To confirm a file arrived intact, compare its checksum with the line for that file:
shasum -a 256 photocraft-<version>-macos-universal.dmg
